Primary Consultant: Lisa P. Weeth, BS, DVM, MRCVS, DACVIM (Nutrition)
Like most veterinarians, Dr. Weeth has loved animals since she was a kid whether it was the stray kittens and puppies she convinced her parents she *needed* to rescue (thanks Mom and Dad!) or the hours she spent working as a technician in veterinary clinics in high school and in college trying to figure out if a future in veterinary medicine was right for her (it was!)
She initially set her sights on being the best General Practitioner she could be and in order to do that graduated from the University of California (UC), Davis, first in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Evolution & Ecology and then again in 2002 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). During her years at Davis, she also met her now-husband, then added 2 dogs, 2 cats, and the first of 2 human kids to the family.
After graduating from veterinary school Dr. Weeth worked as a General Practice and Emergency veterinarian in the San Francisco Bay Area. She loved her time in the clinic working with patients and their caregivers, but realized that so many of the diseases she was treating had nutrition at their core. Dr. Weeth then returned to UC Davis once again in 2004 to start a residency in Small Animal Clinical Nutrition. She completed the 3-year residency (and added the second of 2 human kids to the family along the way!) and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Nutrition (ACVN; i.e., a Board Certified Veterinary Nutritionist) in June of 2007. A month after that Dr. Weeth and her family moved to New Jersey where she to establish the first dedicated full-time Clinical Nutrition Department in a private veterinary hospital.
She and her family jumped at the opportunity to spend some time living outside of the United Stated and in January 2014 they (2 human kids and 3 cats) move to the United Kingdom in January 2014. Dr. Weeth became licensed to practice in the UK and established Weeth Nutrition Services in order to provide Nutrition Telemedicine services to veterinarian in the US and UK. In 2016 her family's time in the UK had to come to an end and she relocated with her family once again, but this time to Los Angeles, CA. Once everyone was settled into the new home and new school she began offering in-person nutrition counseling and consulting once again to caregivers and veterinarians in Los Angeles beginning in December 2016.
